Your assets, your scopes, your tickets, laid out the way oil and gas employers and labour hire screeners read them. Written by someone who has done the work, not a generalist.

Why good oil and gas hands get passed over

Most oil and gas resumes I see don't fail on experience. They fail on how it's shown.

No asset, no project, no client. "Worked on a gas plant" means nothing to a screener. The facility, the project, the EPC or operator you worked under, and the scope of the job are what place you.

Scope with no scale. Pipeline diameter and kilometres, train capacity, shutdown duration and headcount, number of welds or lifts. Scale is how a hiring manager judges your level without a phone call.

Tickets scattered or named wrong. Confined space, gas test, HRWL classes and your medical should sit together near the top, with the names the job ad uses, and expiry dates where they matter.

Campaign history that reads like job-hopping. Shutdowns, commissioning stints, pipeline spreads and project-based contracts are normal in this industry. Laid out properly, they show range. Laid out badly, they look like churn.

Safety as a slogan. "Safety first" says nothing. Permit to work, isolations, JHAs, hot work, SIMOPS, incident-free hours on a named project: that shows how you actually work.

A mining resume sent to an oil and gas employer. Same tickets, different language. Oil and gas screeners look for process safety, hydrocarbons, permit systems and hazardous area experience, not just mobile plant and site inductions.

None of this means you're not good enough. It means your resume isn't showing it.

Your tickets, front and centre

Oil and gas job ads list tickets as must-haves. Your resume should make them impossible to miss, with expiry dates where they matter.

Tickets I lay out properly (examples):

  • Site and permits: confined space entry, working at heights, gas test atmospheres, permit to work, isolation (LOTO), hot work, construction induction (White Card)
  • High risk work: HRWL rigging (RB/RI/RA), scaffolding (SB/SI/SA), dogging, crane classes, EWP, forklift
  • Trade and technical: trade certificates, welding codes and procedure qualifications, Cert III/IV in Process Plant Operations, hazardous area (EEHA) qualifications, HV switching, instrument calibration
  • Offshore and marine: BOSIET / FOET, CA-EBS, HUET, MSIC, offshore medical.
  • Onshore fields: 4WD, remote area first aid, well site induction, H2S awareness

Ticket expired or close to it? I'll show it honestly and flag what's current, so there are no surprises at mobilisation. Full list of offshore tickets on the offshore page.

Why Me

I'm Dylan, and I write every resume myself. No team, no templates, no handing you off.

I was on the tools from 17 to 38, most of it in oil and gas: gas pipelines, offshore pipelay on the Woodside Scarborough trunkline, pipeline work on Santos DPD, and construction on Woodside Pluto Train 2. Then I spent time on a recruitment desk placing trades and engineers, reading resumes and seeing which ones got a call back.

So I know what a spread looks like, what a permit to work system is, and why your asset and project history matters. You won't have to explain the basics to me.

I'm not a recruiter, and I don't place people in jobs. I write resumes that show oil and gas experience properly.

I'd had my resume done a few times over the years, but it never got results. Dylan had spent years on the tools and across different construction sites, so he understood the industry. He explained how resumes are read by Applicant Tracking Systems and built an approach for the Australian market that works with ATS while still catching human eyes. He restructured and repositioned my experience so it stood out. Within three to four days of uploading it, I had calls. If you want a resume built by someone who understands the industry and ATS, as well as what recruiters look for, I highly recommend Dylan and Zillvahn Group.

FAQ

Do you find me a job? No. I'm not a recruiter or labour hire. I write your resume and profiles so your experience is clear when you apply.

Can you guarantee I'll get work or interviews? No, and anyone who does is guessing. Hiring depends on the role, timing and the employer. What I can do is make sure your experience and tickets are shown clearly.

I'm coming from mining. Can you reposition me for oil and gas? Yes, if you have transferable tickets and site experience. The tickets overlap more than the language does. I rewrite the scope and safety sections so an oil and gas screener recognises what you've done.

I'm new to oil and gas. Can you help? I only work with experienced workers. If you've got solid trade or site experience and you're moving into the industry, get in touch and I'll tell you straight if I can help.

I've done mostly shutdowns and project work. Is that a problem? No. That's normal in oil and gas. It just needs laying out so it reads as range, not job-hopping.

Do you write for engineers and managers as well as trades? Yes. Process, mechanical, pipeline and E&I engineers, project engineers, superintendents and plant managers are all covered. Same price.

What about offshore roles? Drilling, rig and marine crews have their own page, because those resumes need different detail. See Offshore Resume Writing.

Do you cover CSG and onshore fields? Yes. Well site, field and lease operators, and wellsite supervisors, across Queensland and the Cooper and Surat basins.

Some of my tickets have expired. Should I still list them? We'll sort it together. Current tickets go up front, and anything expired is shown honestly so there are no surprises.
